You know those songs that you can listen to a million times, and yet you still love them?
For me, there are some songs that simply never get old. No matter how many times I hear them, I can always find something new to appreciate about the song.
Typically, the part of a song that resonates with me the most are the lyrics. Many of these songs have lyrics that speak to me on a personal level. Other songs make me think about the state of the world and our relationships with God.
Enjoy!

Ribs – To me, this song is about how young people always want to grow up so fast, but when you get there, it’s nothing like you thought it would be.
Streets of Tomorrow – This is a weird song I’ve been listening to since early high school. I even choreographed a dance to it when I was a junior (I don’t remember it, although there might be a video somewhere).
Someone Like You – I have been a huge Adele fan ever since I discovered her early in high school. Some people are sick of this song but it will always be beautiful to me.
Only If For a Night – Like Adele, I’ve listened to multiple Florence albums and she’s quite the artist. For me, this song embodies the fairytale essence of her music using a dream she had of her grandmother.
Anywhere Is – I have been addicted to this song since my senior year of high school when my friend shared it with me. The lyrics and rhythms interlock perfectly and it’s just super Irish.
Blue Ridge Mountains – AKA the ultimate hipster song- involved forests, winter, dogs and male relatives. You can just feel your beard growing as you listen.
The Valley Song – I have been listening to this song since middle school and I still love it. The lyrics are simple yet incredibly profound. Often music is overcomplicated, but Jars of Clay always kept it simple and raw. I was pretty sad when they sold out and switched to a pop sound.
The Goodness – I will often listen to this song to unwind and find some peace at the end of a crazy day. Lyrics are simple yet very powerful.
Oh Lord – I found this song about a week ago and it’s one of the songs that makes me think. The section of lyrics in the middle stands out to me the most, discussing our approach to the world and to God.
Above All – My all-time favorite Christian song. It’s pretty 90’s but it’s still fantastic.
This Man – I heard this song on Christian radio my whole childhood and got pretty sick of it. I returned to this song again recently and it has now become one of my favorites.
Awesome God – This song is another classic that will never die. Just too good.
I Can Only Imagine – Another song heard over and over as a kid but I never really understood until recently. Have your tissues ready for this one.
Where Were You – This song is a good reminder that God is in control of the world he created. It’s an incredible rendition of the book of Job in the form of a song.
The Chain – Over the summer I got pretty obsessed with Journey and Fleetwood Mac. I like so many of their songs but this is one of my favorites. I love the Western flair to the music and the way the vocals were put together. Listen all the way to the end.
Dust in the Wind – Slightly depressing but accurate
Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) – This song is perfect for working out and they lyrics are great. If you need a laugh, check out the music video. It’s just as epic as the song.
Fantasy – My dad played this song over and over throughout my childhood and I got pretty sick of it. However, I listened to it again recently and I realized that it will always be a classic.
